Kirk Ramdath is a socially conscious spoken word poet and member of the 2007 Calgary Slam Team. In 2007 he performed at the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Just prior to the festival in Halifax, he performed his poem, “A Taste of Death in the Water,” at GlobalFest in Calgary for an audience of over 5,000 people. Since April, 2006 he has been editor-in-chief of Eleventh Transmission (www.eleventhtransmission.org/), Calgary’s arts, culture, media, and activism magazine. In that role he actively promotes awareness of art and activism in the Calgary community and beyond.
