D. Kimm (Montreal)

D. Kimm is a multidisciplinary, international artist from Montreal. She has published four books: O Solitude! (Triptyque, 1987), Chevale (VLB éditeur, 1989), Tableaux (VLB éditeur, 1991) and the book+CD-ROM La Suite mongole (Planète rebelle, 2001). Her book Chevale was nominated for the Prix Émile-Nelligan, an award for young poets. Since 1994, she has produced shows that left their mark on the literary scene, bringing together hundreds of writers, stage artists and musicians. She is the executive and artistic director of Les Filles électriques, a non-profit, Canadian production company that organizes and archives interdisciplinary, text-based performance works and events since 2001. The organization’s major event is the Voix d’Amériques (FVA), Canada’s largest festival devoted to spoken word, poetry in performance and vocal experimentation. From 1992-1998, she served as the artistic director of Montreal’s Festival de la littérature. She has released a music-poetry CD/album (Le Silence des hommes with guitarist Bernard Falaise). Her collaboration with performer Alexis O’Hara – Mankind, is soon to be released on disc and will tour Europe in the spring of 2008.
