Ian Ferrier is one of the top poet-performers in the North American word and music scene. His most recent CD, What is this Place, was just released by Bongobeat Records and selected as “Best CD of 2007” by HOUR magazine. His work always begins with words, but where it ends up can be a haunting mix; some pieces are accompanied by guitar, others by an all-woman choir, still others by the music of trance improv group Pharmakon. Ferrier is the co-founder and executive producer of the poetry and music label Wired on Words. He tours regularly, and his words and music can be heard on CBC and other public radio stations in Canada and the United States.
