M.A.C. Farrant (Victoria)

M.A.C. Farrant has eight acclaimed collections of satirical and humorous short fiction. Adapted for both radio and television, her stories have been translated into French and Italian and are widely anthologized in publications across North America, including the Penguin Anthology of Canadian Humour (2006), and Dropped Threads 3 (Random House, 2006). Her memoir, My Turquoise Years (Greystone Books/Douglas & McIntyre, 2004) was serialized and broadcast on CBC Radio 1 in 2005. In March, 2007 she published a short fiction collection, The Breakdown So Far with Talonbooks. A stage adaptation of My Turquoise Years was one of four new plays selected by the Arts Club Theatre of Vancouver as part of their annual ReAct event and is now in its final stages of development. Her latest collection, Down the Road to Eternity—New & Selected Fiction (Talon Books), will appear in 2009. She reviews fiction and non-fiction for the Vancouver Sun and the Toronto Globe & Mail and is the co-host and organizer of the long-running Sidney Reading Series.
